Corrective exercise is focused on correcting muscle imbalances. A muscle imbalance is a muscle (or muscle group) that is underused. These imbalances may be the result of various factors: incorrect exercise form/technique, poor posture, lifestyle, repetitive movement patterns at work or in sport, and prior injury.
These factors may cause the surrounding muscles to compensate for the weak muscle. It’s possible for your brain to “forget” about the weak muscle. You continue to use the stronger muscles and neglect the weak ones, and before you know it, you’re dealing with a muscle imbalance. This causes pain, early fatigue, and susceptibility to injury. You might not even realize why you can’t break through to meet your fitness goals, but if you’re not employing all your muscles correctly, you’re missing out on your maximum strength and endurance.
Even if you are not an athlete, corrective exercise will help you to move better, feel better and live better.
Corrective training can help you to minimize or eliminate prior injuries. It can also help you to break through to a new level in your pursuit of fitness. In addition, corrective training can minimize and alleviate pain that comes from improper posture.
We want you to be able to engage in any of your favorite recreational activities, and the activities of daily living while being pain free.
